The Style Checklist
The Big Stuff
The Big Stuff
One of the most important steps in making the perfect ad is knowing your target audience. Try watching your ad from your target audiences perspective, would you buy your product? Make your message appeal to the target demographic as much as you can.
Evoking the emotions of the viewer is another effective strategy for making a great advertisement. Your ad should tell a story as opposed to listing facts about the product. Audiences want to feel a connection with the product through experiences, feelings, or ideas.
Lastly we have singling out your main message. It is common to want to put as much information as you can into the ads limited run time. Pick your topic, theme, idea, or message and highlight it. Overloading the ad with facts and details is a good way to lose the viewers.
Practical Tips
Practical Tips
Stay Concise. There is no need for long sentences, it is an ad not an essay. Keep your text short, sweet, and to the point. You should think of the text as the emphasis to the visuals, music, and voiceover.
Don't forget a call to action. You want to avoid leaving the audience wondering what the next steps are. Lead the customer to the decision you want them to make.
Don't be afraid of stock. Stock assets are more than just filler. If used correctly a stock asset can be a key part to a creative ad. You want to avoid stock assets that look "stiff" or "posed". Instead opting for candids or visuals with energy and color.
Make sure you have a good logo. The logo is a company's calling card. If it looks good it elevates the rest of the ad. Remove any white background. It is also important to be sure you're using the highest resolution possible (our upscale tool is great for that).
Music matters. Play with the music, find something that fits. The right background music can do wonders in creating atmosphere and setting the emotional undertone for your ad. Test your ad with different musical options before finalizing.

Add a human touch. People connect with people. Showing people in relatable, real life experiences adds immediacy and trust. Lean towards organic imagery of humans whenever it makes sense.
Include social proof. Testimonials or reviews from satisfied customers are the most effective ways to build trust. Feature some of these positive reviews in your ad and let your happy customers sell for you!
Foster a sense of urgency. Make your audience act fast by showing them limited time offers or limited editions. An offer that is about to end can make viewers promptly act upon your call-to-action.
