AI Tools let you change an image in your video using AI, without leaving the editor. They work on any image in your video — one you uploaded yourself or one you picked from the stock library — and you can rewrite it from a text description, turn it into a short video clip, or re-render it at a higher resolution.
NOTHING IS SAVED UNTIL YOU APPROVE IT
Your video isn’t changed until you accept a result, and the image you started from stays in your library untouched.
Getting started
1. Select an image layer in the editor.
2. Click AI TOOLS in the layer toolbar. You can also click Edit With AI at the bottom of the Edit panel.
3. Under What should AI do?, pick EDIT, ANIMATE or UPSCALE. Each tool is covered below.

Edit — rewrite the image
Choose EDIT, then describe the change you want in the prompt box. The button stays greyed out and reads “Describe a change to continue” until you’ve typed something; once you have, click GENERATE IMAGE.
Prompts work best when they name one specific change, such as removing an object, brightening the light, or clearing clutter from a surface.

Animate — turn the image into video
Choose ANIMATE, describe the motion you want, then click GENERATE VIDEO. The panel shows “Animating image” while it works, and the clip saves as a new video rather than replacing your image.
Video takes longer than an image — usually one to three minutes. Clips come back at 4, 6 or 8 seconds and cost one credit per second. Waymark picks the length closest to the clip it's replacing in your video, so you're not paying for footage you won't use.
Note: We’ll pick the duration closest to the placeholder clip length to avoid overcharging your organization.

Upscale — sharpen and enlarge
Choose UPSCALE and click UPSCALE IMAGE. There’s no prompt to write. The result saves as a new image.
Upscale sharpens and enhances without changing the content of the image, but it does re-render it, so fine details like text and logos can shift slightly. Worth a close look before you save if your image contains a wordmark or small type.

Saving or discarding a result
When a result comes back, it’s marked NEW in the panel, with two choices: SAVE & APPLY puts it on the layer and files it into your library, and DISCARD throws it away. Your original is untouched either way — anything you save arrives as a new file.

If you move away from the layer while a result is waiting on you, Waymark reminds you that it’s still undecided. Choose RETURN TO IT to go back and decide, or DISCARD to let it go. Discarding cannot be undone.

How credits work
Each generation uses credits from your organization’s allowance. One credit covers one image generation, one upscale, or one second of video — so an animated clip costs 4, 6 or 8 credits depending on its length.
A generation that fails costs nothing.
Where saved results go
Saving a result applies it to the layer and files it into your brand’s library as a new asset. Images go to the image library; clips go to the footage library. Both carry a sparkle badge so you can tell them apart from the rest of your assets.

AI assets are stored as uploads, so the Upload filter in the asset panel is the one that surfaces them. That filter also shows your other uploads; the sparkle badge appears only on AI-generated items.
Things to know before you generate
Upscale re-renders the image rather than enlarging it. Fine detail can shift, including text and logos.
Upscale doesn’t accept very large images. Images above roughly 2048 × 2048 are declined before anything runs, and the button stays disabled. 1080p and 1440p images work.
Discarded results are gone for good. There’s no way to bring one back, so save anything you might want.
If AI Tools aren’t available
What you see | What it means |
No AI TOOLS or Edit With AI button | The buttons appear only on image layers, when a brand is selected, and your account has AI Tools enabled. If they were there earlier and aren’t now, your account’s credits may be used up. Contact your account administrator or Waymark support. |
“AI tools are currently not available” after clicking Generate | The request wasn’t run, and nothing was charged. Try again later; if it persists, contact support, who can check your organization’s usage. |
The Generate button won’t light up | For Edit, you haven’t described a change yet. For Upscale, the image may be too large — the panel says so when that’s the reason. |
