What is Project File Export?
Project File Export lets you export a Waymark video into an After Effects file that includes everything your project needs: a ready-to-run build script, your project data, and all the images, footage, audio, and fonts used in your video.
You don’t need any plugins, extensions, or an internet connection.
Exporting ZIP File
NOTE: Users can either render & download their videos, or they can generate the AE export (which will also include video files). There is currently no export-only path.
Navigate to the export location, located within the Share Button.
Click Generate Project File Export, then Accept
Then, download the Project File ZIP
Unzip File
NOTE: Depending on the device, the unzip flow may be different. Users should look up how to Unzip Files on their device.
Unzip the file to a desired folder
Keep everything in the zip folder together
Setting up the file in After Effects
One-time setup (once, ever)
Open After Effects
Go to Edit>Preferences > Scripting & Expressions
Check "Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network" (needed to auto-install the bundled fonts and write a build log)
Opening Project File
In After Effects, click File > Scripts
Then click Run Script File
Choose import-template.jsx from this folder
Wait for the summary alert (a large project can take a minute or two)
Once your project loads up, you'll have all the layers to edit!
Then File > Save As wherever you keep projects.
Important to Note
Audio:
The voice-over (when the video has one) is included as its own track, unmixed. Waymark's renderer automatically lowers ("ducks") the music under the voice-over; this export leaves that mixing to you in After Effects.
Fonts:
Bundled fonts install automatically. If text shows the wrong typeface, restart After Effects and run the script again.
Fonts whose licenses don't allow us to share the font file are not included; the summary alert names any, and AE substitutes with a similar font. Size, line breaks, and placement still match the original.
Export
Edits made are one-directional and will not be reflected in the Waymark platform.
